Headingley is the centre for student life in Leeds, right amidst a thriving nightlife with masses of bars and pubs it makes for the perfect place to study, eat, live and play.

A night out in Headingley has endless options, with both traditional pubs such as the Sky Rack and Original Oak; and buzzing bars like Manahatta and The Box the most renowned Bar in Headingley.  If you’re interested in sports or like to lap up those occasional sun rays, Original Oak has an acclaimed beer garden with a huge outdoor screen, voted #1 by the Guardian for top beer gardens in the country. Headingley is also home to the Leeds renowned Otley Run a huge 16 pub/bar crawl spanning from the edge of Headingley to the edge of Leeds City Centre often undertaken in fancy dress and always makes for a memorable night out.


Headingley is also home to the famous Leeds Rhinos RFC with an awesome stadium and lively crowd, there’s never a dull moment and within walking distance from the local pubs and restaurants you can grab a drink or enjoy a meal post game within minutes. If Rugby isn’t your thing maybe the Headingley Cricket club will take your fancy. If that’s not enough the famous Elland Road is just a short bus journey away. If you’re not interested in watching sport and prefer playing it; Beckett’s Park is a short walk away from the centre and with its huge grass fields, tennis courts and expansive woodland there’s plenty of space for playing a multitude of different sports.

whites-deli-leedsThe food scene in Headingley is always something to shout about, with quaint cafes such as Sebby’sDare Café or Whites Deli excellent for dropping in for a quick coffee, lunch and chat between lectures but make sure you head back to Whites for a cocktail and live music in the evening. For special occasions and somewhere to dine with the parents head to Salvos for some tasty award winning Italian cuisine or Sukhothai for some tasty thai.

If you’re looking for something a little more casual then why not head to The Cat’s Pyjamas for some divine Indian street food and craft beers, Ecco Pizzeria by far our favourite pizza in Leeds or one of Leeds most popular barbecue restaurants; Reds True Barbecue for some truly delicious ribs, burgers or wings. The smell alone will make you weak at the knees. Finish off your evening with a trip to Cottage Road Cinema one of the UK’s oldest cinemas.
